Summary
This product is for research use only. Do not administer it to human.
Maitotoxin, isolated from the marine dinoflagellate Gambierdiscus toxicus is a polar polyetherwith molecular weight of 3425.86. The toxin at pico-molar (pM) concentrations stimulates Ca2+-triggered biological phenomena. At even lower concentrations and in all cell systems the toxin stimulated phosphoinositide breakdown, which calcium ionophores could not mimic. Thetoxin is a valuable tool for research on calcium-dependent mechanisms.
Acute Toxicity: LD50 (intraperitoneal, mouse): 0.05 μg/kg
Solubility: Soluble in methanol, DMSO and aqueous acetonitrile.
Insoluble in other organic solvents
Stability: Stable in light and oxygen. Unstable in acids.
Storage condition: Keep at -20°C
